How To Turn Off Automatic Software Update On HomePod

HomePod is set to automatically install new software updates as soon as they are released. But you have the option to turn off automatic software updates on your HomePod.


Once you have disabled the auto update on the HomePod, you will need to manually check for the updates in the Home app on your iPhone or iPad. Read on to know how it works:

How to Turn Off Automatic Software Update on HomePod


Step 1. Open the Home app on your iOS device.

Step 2. Now, tap on the tiny arrow at the top left corner.

Step 3. Tap on Software Update and then disable the automatic software update.

Going forward, the speaker won't be updated automatically. Later, if you want to enable the auto-update on your HomePod, follow the same steps and turn it on in the end.

How to Manually Update Your HomePod


Be sure your iOS device is signed in with the Apple ID that you used to set up HomePod.

Step 1. Launch the Home app on your iDevice.

Step 2. Now, tap on the tiny arrow icon at the top left corner.

Step 3. Tap on Software Update.

Step 4. If you see any new update, tap Install.

Note: In case you have multiple homes set up in the Home app, tap on the tiny arrow at the top left corner → Home Settings → tap on home to check for updates.

It will update all of your HomePod speakers, which you have set up in your home.
